Collecting Artifacts by Johannes XIV:

The Luxury works examine culture through the symbols we elevate, desire, and preserve. Watches, fashion houses, machines, and icons of status become more than objects of wealth; they become markers of ambition, identity, accomplishment, and illusion. These works question how value is assigned, how status is performed, and how beauty becomes entangled with power.

Society is watching...

The Artifacts

"3 Faces of Submariner"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

This piece references the iconic Rolex Submariner as a symbol with myth-like history. Featuring references to the development of this revolutionary line of submersible watches. Bubbles spread through an underwater haze. Bezel and Dial details are intricately cut out and raised from the background, physically popping the piece forward. Design schematics, historic persona photos, old adverts, cheeky plays on all 3 green nicknames (Kermit, Starbucks, & Hulk), along with many more interconnected symbolisms, are woven through this work. Echoing the rich depths of history.

"Bubble 0-7"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

The Rolex Submariner 6538 was worn in classic Bond films and became just as much a part of the myth and legend as the man. These iconic timepieces were worn by the equally iconic Sean Connery throughout films like Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, etc. The later Bonds drifted away from this specific watch but it will always be the classic just as the original actor who made it infamous.

This piece not only features Johannes' classic watercolor style rings, bubbles, deep layers of collage references and symbolisms, but also beautiful faux faceted diamonds scattered up the bottom with the momentum of the piece.

A simultaneous homage to ingenuity, precision, and the human creativity that explores those boundaries.

"All Consuming Elegance"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

An exploration of the luxury deconstructed series, this piece, based on the popular Gucci Bamboo bottle, emerges to take center stage. Last season's designs are being left behind in a bucket of ice, simultaneously frigid and flashy.

The viewer is left to ponder the future of high-end brands as the ever-looming gap of classicism permeates daily life.

Elegance, after all, is rarely accidental.

It is built, repeated, and reinforced until it becomes an expectation. But when the pattern breaks…

What remains?

Can craftsmanship and elegance survive when people can’t afford to dream?

"Max-imum Velocity"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

Strategy and performance come alive with Max Verstappen at center stage. This piece is a meaningful reflection of my Dutch heritage while supporting a modern Dutch icon. Performance is inseparable from corporate identity and engineered excellence.

Precision is key behind performance; intelligence is lauded by mathematical formulas such as velocity and speed as a driving force in the background.

Crowds of Dutch fans overlook while celebrating Max’s unprecedented “champion era”. Victory is tied so closely to identity and national symbolism as a true reminder of the ever-looming importance of legacy.

"Formulaium Momentatum"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

Encapsulating the thrill and intensity of Formula One racing, the jarring contrast of red and black fragments line the edges. Movement is exemplified by the cascade of crystals, mimicking asphalt and rubber being shredded with every high-speed lap.

A track’s map hovers above as a testament to the effort and planning of such grand arenas. Embodying a modern-day coliseum, sports are the pinnacle of manufactured danger and thrill, entertaining the masses.

What forces drive our fascinations? Being the spectator? The fantasy of performance?

The driver wins… is adored & celebrated… Their ceaseless pursuit of fame and success is our gluttonous spectacle.

"Accelerated Forces"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

High-impact energy is captured in a single moment as the new Formula One model overtakes the scene. Seemingly accelerating right towards you, the viewer. An industry built around speed and innovation. Some of the turns have been more tumultuous than others.

This is marked by the controversial 2026 release of a new model design update. A recognition of F1’s never-ending commitment to innovation at the risk of human addiction to familiarity and tradition.

A controversial new design that sparked outrage among fans and drivers alike. Where is the line between innovation and overhaul?

Homage to a fascinating sports world supported by layers of complex moving parts and unseen highly coordinated teams coming together before the driver or car ever meet the track.

"Celestial Chandelier"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

Luxury, Preserved.

Identity, Constructed.

Roses are meant to fade; their value tied to time, softness, and impermanence.

Here, they are rebuilt…

Familiar forms are layered, disrupted, and sealed. History is disrupted & suspended just beneath the surface. What appears delicate is reinforced. What appears natural is constructed.

The flowers emerge, but never fully escape.

Held between preservation and control. Luxury does not simply elevate. It defines, contains, and roots in place.

"Patterned Elegance"

Mixed Media Collage, Acrylic Paint,

Recycled 3D Textiles, Glass Fragments,

Deep Resin Finish on Canvas

A study in repetition, refinement, and the quiet systems that construct desire…

Continuing the luxury deconstructed series, this time, iconic Gucci Bamboo is held in a moment of suspended perfection. Carefully and quietly dissecting its symmetry, clarity, and precision. Yet beneath the surface, the pattern begins to fracture. Splintered textures and blooming disruption suggest that even the most controlled forms cannot remain untouched…

Is luxury defined by its perfection?

Or by how it endures its unraveling?
